The Vision of the Church is “Jesus in Everything We Do and Everywhere We Are”. To this end the Children & Families Worker will seek to:

  • Initiate and develop the Church's work with children, young people and families
  • Utilise existing contacts in Long Buckby's Primary Schools and the wider community to connect

with children, young people and families

  • Engage and motivate Church members to support in outreach and mission in the community


In overseeing the ministry to children and families, and in collaboration with the Leadership Team:

  • to develop and communicate a vision for working with children under 11 and as appropriate for teenagers as well in line with the overall vision of the Church
  • to develop and implement a strategy for working with children under 11 and as appropriate for teenagers as well
  • to nurture the Christian faith of children and teenagers connected to the Church through Christian education, worship and social activities
  • to work in Long Buckby Infant and Junior Schools supporting educational activities and seeking opportunities to build contacts between the children, their families and the Church
  • to create and nurture a team of suitable volunteers
  • to model good practice to others
  • to engage in the planning of any All Age worship
  • to initiate opportunities to introduce Fresh Expressions of Church which are family focused
  • to support the existing Half and Half group as required




The jobholder will ensure that the Diocesan Safeguarding Procedures are complied with, and that all children and families team members are trained in good practice (with the support of the Parish Safeguarding Officer).




The jobholder will participate fully in the work of the Leadership Team, including team meetings. Provide reports on Children & Families Ministry to the PCC, when required to.




Maintain accurate information on children’s activities on the church website and utilise social media to the full. In liaison with the Church Administrator, manage the finance and administration, keeping records as appropriate, for the children’s ministry. Ensure careful use of premises and equipment.




Have a disciplined life of prayer, Bible study and wider Christian reading, supported by a Spiritual Mentor.


NOTES: There is a genuine occupational requirement that the jobholder is a Christian. The post is subject to an advanced DBS disclosure.
